How come my ex never got pregnant?

I had sexual relations with this girl and nine months later she had a baby....I was in a relationship of two years with my ex and she never got pregnant....was it me or her the reason she never had a baby.....she always had an irregular period...she never really had her period....any info wll help...thanks
