Why do athletes thank god for winning?

Athletes thank God for winning or losing because He gave them the abilities to be able to play in the first place. He sometimes lets us lose to teach us about humility and grace in losing. Starving kids is about man's inhumanity to man, and diseases are from the sin in the world. Marion Jones fell because of her disobedience to God, and until she repented there was no joy in the medals she won only constant reminders of what she had done. The athletes have to use their abilities the way God wants them to and if they do they can win over the other team, but is not a guarantee sometimes they lose to be humbled and the other team to be lifted up and recognize God in their lives. God's ways are not your ways and you will never understand until you humble yourself before the throne of God.
