Question about panic attacks....?

I have suffered from panic attacks for years, for years I took Xanax to control my episodes....I have not used Xanax for over 3 years and do not want to get back on them. Occasionally i will have a terrible panic attack that scares me so bad...what could i do, other than taking medicine ...to help me get through a bad attack?
