Xanax causing seizures?

let me start out by saying i am in no way a drug addict. i have anxiety and i started taking xanax every once in awhile when i couldn't sleep. it worked well, so i started using it for about 7-10 nights straight. at a low dosage, i stopped taking it simply because i forgot. i wasnt addicted to it. but then i woke up and i had a seizure. i shook and then i dont remember anything after that. my sister found me on the floor after hearing a thump. i was taken to hospital and nothing was found wrong, then awhile later it happened again, i went to the hospital again. nothing found wrong. i found out that it was most likely the xanax withdrawwal. for i had never had seizures before. so i tappered off. and everything seemed fine until about a week or so later i drank. i had no idea this would affect anyything. i was clueless. but that morning i had a seizure. and now im trying to tapper again. help! will this be a permanent problem? when will this end? what do you suggest?
